The Health Professions Education Foundation (HPEF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which was established in 1987.

HPEF's mission is to improve access to healthcare in medically underserved areas of California by providing scholarships and loan repayments to health professional students and graduates who are dedicated to providing medical and mental health services in those areas.

From 1987 to 2014, HPEF's track record of delivering health professionals to medically underserved areas have resulted in approximately 10,911 awards totaling more than $124 million to allied health, nursing, mental health, and medical students and graduates, practicing in all of California's 58 counties.

This 60-minute session will provide an overview of the eligibility requirements for HPEF's loan repayment programs and the benefit of these financial incentive programs for Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). These programs include:
  • Allied Healthcare Loan Repayment Program
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse Loan Repayment Program
  • Bachelor of Science Nursing Loan Repayment Program
  • Advanced Practice Healthcare Loan Repayment Program
  • Mental Health Loan Assumption Program
  • Licensed Mental Health Services Provider Education Program
  • Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program
