Financial Sustainability for Rural Health Centers

As the national healthcare environment evolves into a more integrated system that attempts to address the multitude of factors affecting quality of life, health centers are required to provide a broader array of services under a changing reimbursement system. As this transformation proceeds, health centers in rural areas are at increased risk of difficulty or even failure. Join us for this 60-minute webinar where Capital Link will review findings from Analysis of the Financial Sustainability of Rural Health Centers in Northeastern California, a new report sponsored by Blue Shield of California Foundation that highlights the unique challenges confronting frontier and rural health centers in the northeast sector of California. To better understand the rural performance challenges of this region, this analysis examined data trends from the nine health centers with 26 service delivery sites of the Health Alliance of Northern California (HANC).

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the unique market and operational challenges faced by health centers in providing primary care services in rural and frontier communities.
  • Learn how the performance of rural and frontier health centers may be impacted from anticipated market changes and planned payment reform.
  • Explore ideas and strategies for strengthening operations at rural centers to ensure their financial sustainability and their ability to provide ongoing access to quality care in the rural and frontier communities they serve.
